Olampoli State park is located right near the county lines of Sonoma county and Marin county. This beautiful state park is just off the Highway 101 and isn’t far from San Francisco, or the nearby city of Santa Rosa, almost in the middle of these two cities. Rolling hills and wine country could describe the area that surrounds Olampoli State Park.
This beautiful state park is so easy to miss off of highway 101 north of San Francisco south of Petaluma, CA. Believe it or not the rock band Grateful Dead lived here in 1966 and Janis Joplin has been known to have stayed here.
“The name “Olompali” comes from the Coast Miwok language and likely means “Southern village” or “Southern people”.
