Rustic Cottages, Lake Tahoe, Tahoe Vista, Placer County

Lots of outdoor water activities to do in Lake Tahoe, California, Nevada.

Get ready for summer everyone!  Number one destination for many people that I know in the summer is Lake Tahoe.  World wide Tahoe is known for it’s vast amount of snow, and snow sports, but summer is just as much fun as the winter on and around Lake Tahoe.  You can hike to the peaks of various mountains!  I myself have hiked Mt. Rose and many areas near Tahoe Donner.  There is river rafting and tubing on the Truckee river.  The Shakespeare Festival near the east shore on the Nevada side, at Sand Harbor is another great event.

Lake Tahoe, Rustic Cottages.

My family has visited all sides of lake Tahoe!  We found Rustic Cottages because they had more than just a room for everyone.  We can have a cabin or two, and also rent the smaller cabins, so that each family within the family has their own cabin.  We all join in the breakfast cabin in the a.m and have our lunches and meals at the cabin that our family rented.  It’s a fabulous time, and we have our own little retreats also, while on a family vacation.

Rustic Cottages on Lake Tahoe, at Tahoe Vista, is a great place to escape, and enjoy the mountains of the Tahoe region, and Placer counties, and other counties.  Rustic Cottages, is in Tahoe Vista, on the California side.  It’s just a short ways from Incline Village, which is on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe.

The cottages are cute, and self sufficient, and the cabins are great with hot tubs out side on the decks.  With each cabin or cottage rental, you get your own mug to take home too, which is a pretty neat souvenir.

Whiskeytown Lake, Oak Bottom Water Ditch Trail.

Beautiful Whiskeytown Lake in northern California, bright blue and green waters and blue skies with lots of pine trees and douglas fir trees.
Whiskeytown lake is usually always full in the summertime.
Whiskeytown Lake in Shasta county is a great getaway for the day for many Shasta county and Trinity county residents.  A great place to get out for hiking and getting outdoors.  We went for a hike last weekend out at Whiskeytown lake and it was quite warm.  The trail we chose was a beginning level trail, mostly shady and very pleasant overall.
Whiskeytown lake is full up to the shore with water, as well as other lakes in northern California.  Lot’s of rain and snow this year, and late in the season. This is going to be an excellent year to enjoy our rivers, creeks and lakes for sure.

Beautiful trail at Whiskeytown Lake, in Shasta county.
Oak Bottom Water Ditch Trail was originally a  canal system that provided water to the mining operations in Clear creek.  The Water Ditch Trail, meanders, along the lake and also highway 299 west towards Clear creek.  The trail is well shaded, and right on the lake for the most part.  We did not hike the whole trail, it is 2.75 miles one way.

Healdsburg Memorial Veterans Beach, Sonoma County

Train bridge in Healdsburg over the Russian river.
Train bridge over the Russian river, in Healdsburg, CA.
I have been visiting Healdsburg, California a bit more and exploring some of the neighborhoods.  I was driving by the river, and noticed the old train bridge.  I pulled over and ran down the tracks to take a couple of pictures.   I always drive over the car bridge, which in one of the pictures, you can see it in the distance.  That bridge crosses over at the Healdsburg Veterans Memorial Beach is a public beach for swimming and day camping of sorts, or picnics.

I love pomegranates, they are so delicious.  I remember eating them when I was a child, and eating the seeds sometimes but not all the time.
Recently, I read the seeds are really good for you.  Pomegranates in general are very good for you.  Wonderful as an addition in salads.

My friend has a pomegranate tree in Chico, California.  The blossoms were just turning to fruit in early July.  The pomegranates are probably about ready now, and I should call my friend and see if they are ripe yet.

Pomegranate just starting and blossom dying off.

Beautiful pomegranates! This one is still very green, and the beginning of the fruit looks like a flower at the bottom, you can see the flower bloom dark pink wilted away.
