Pomegranate, A Delicious and Nutritious Fruit

Pomegranates grow well in California.

A pomegranate fruit was one of my favorites as a child and still is. It is so delicious, worth the effort it takes to peel.I f you put one in a bowl or sink of water, it is less messy and also easier to peel. You can thank my aunt for that piece of advice. She uses them in a particular salad that she serves. Recently I read something about the pomegranate seeds being very good for you.  They have large quantities of antioxidants also.

I found this site which I found to be very well made.   If you have never had a pomegranate, this would be a very helpful site.

I love pomegranates, they are so delicious.  I remember eating them when I was a child, and eating the seeds sometimes but not all the time.
Recently, I read the seeds are really good for you.  Pomegranates in general are very good for you.  Wonderful as an addition in salads.

My friend has a pomegranate tree in Chico, California.  The blossoms were just turning to fruit in early July.  The pomegranates are probably about ready now, and I should call my friend and see if they are ripe yet.

Beautiful pomegranates! This one is still very green, and the beginning of the fruit looks like a flower at the bottom, you can see the flower bloom dark pink wilted away.

How to Peel a Pomegranate

Pomegranates used to be my favorite fruit as a child. I still do enjoy eating them very much. My aunt says to peel them underwater, it is less messy that way. Recently I read that the seeds of pomegranates have great nutritional value. Seriously, we should all go buy some today!

How to Peel Pomegranates, underwater.

The pomegranate is from ancient times, and was originally from the area of what is known as Iran and Iraq.  Today the pomegranate tree is all over the world from the middle east, to India, to the Mediterranean, Africa, in the U.S, California and Arizona.  One of my favorite dishes is a middle eastern pomegranate chicken.  Obviously, they have been using this fruit for a long time!
