Beautiful white tulips with bright yellow centers, I brought them from Amsterdam.
Beautiful white tulips from Amsterdam, Netherlands.

April Showers brought lots of tulips.  Now it’s May and more flowers but I still love tulips.

Happy May everyone!

Sundial Bridge over the Sacramento River, Shasta County

The Sundial Bridge is always a favorite to visit and explore for locals and visitors.  The Turtle Bay Sundial Bridge is a wonderful walking bridge landmark designed by Santiago Calatrava.  You can visit his website here.   There are only a few bridges in the United States and the residents of Shasta county are very fortunate to have this monumental piece of architecture.
The Sundial Bridge is a must see if you are passing by on Interstate 5 by Redding in Shasta county.  The bridge is over the Sacramento river, which does not begin in Sacramento, but up in Shasta county.  In addition to this wonderful feat of architecture, the Sundial Bridge is located in the middle of a beautiful arboretum and a wildlife museum and exploration park.

The bridge is very well designed, and is an actual sundial.

Beautiful picture of pink flowers in the foreground and in the background the SunDial part of the Sundial bridge in Redding, CA, blue sky and white mistly clouds.
Beautiful arboretum on the east side of the Sundial Bridge. In the background you can see the dial part of the bridge. The shadow casts on the pillars telling the time.
Beautiful puple flowers and greenery, with the trails through the arboretum, pictured in the background a bright blue sky and the dial part of the bridge which cast a shadow on to short pillars on the ground around the dial, which tells you what time it is, according to the shadow.
Pretty purple flowers from the arboretum at the Turtle Bay Exploration Park and the Sundial Bridge.
Picture of the Sundial bridge from the north part of the river, you can see the large sundial and the bridge spanning over the wide Sacramento river.
Pictured is the Sacramento river looking at the Sundial bridge from the north.
Pictured is the Sacramento river directly under the Sundial Bridge, you can see the architecture, and the bridge appears very long from this angle. The brdige casts a shadow over the river.
Below the Sundial walking bridge over the Sacreamento river, in northern California. Lots of people have seen this view when fishing.

Picture of blackberries, different stages, some very greenish red, to bright red to black. When they are shiny they are perfect and ready to be picked. This pic the berries are in the pine tree and blue sky in the background.

Beautiful blackberries ripe and ready to be picked.

We had an early blackberry season this year, maybe from all the rain.  Almost all the blackberries are drying up except a few bushes in shadier areas.

Pictured a half gallon of perfect blackberries in a stailess steel metal bowl sitting on a metal chair with holes and painted white, which is a contrast to the blackberries.
Pictured my favorite bowls for picking are the stainless steel.

You can smell the blackberries in the air, and it has a scent of blackberry wine.  The season is almost over, as it’s also getting cold at night.

Beautiful very ripe blackberries, in a portrait picture, they are hanging and each blackberry is very ripe, black and shiny, ready to be picked. A very green backdrop of blackberry leaves and also pine tree needles.
These are perfect blackberries. Right after I shot the photo I picked them.

So far, I’ve made some seedless blackberry jam, and froze some blackberries also.  I plan to pick the last of the berries and make more jam.

Throughout the summer I have been taking photographs of the blackberries.   I think they are great!  I love the color combination of the red berries, and black and sometimes green.
