Christmas 2010 Whirlwind of Chocolates, Cookies, and Candies

Christmas 2010 was a winter wonderland adventure of cookies and chocolates rather than snow. I had lots of help with my Christmas treats.  These girls can really decorate, cookies and chocolate. When we started the chocolates, I had a design in mind, but that failed.  The girls did what they wanted and their ideas were better than mine, so I let them do what they wanted.

Venison with onions, shallots, mushrooms, garlic, bell pepper and red wine.

A friend gave me some venison.  I cut into small medallions then tenderized them.  After that I seared them in some oil, then added them to my sauteed garlic, onions, shallots, green bell pepper, and mushrooms.  I added about 1/2 cup or so of red wine, and then let it simmer for just a few minutes.  It was quite delicious.  My cousin advised me that venison cooks very quickly.  She was right.

To compliment the dish I had some basmati rice and also broccoli and yams.  The yams were delicious. I cut them very thinly then boiled for just a few minutes, then I drained them, and put a small amount of butter in a pan, and cooked them fairly high.   I added a little brown sugar as I sauteed them for a few minutes.
